About the ODPP

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is the principal prosecutorial authority in Belize, responsible for the independent conduct of criminal prosecutions on behalf of the State.

The ODPP operates under the Belize Constitution and relevant legislation to ensure that prosecutions are conducted fairly, transparently, and in the public interest.

The ODPP has jurisdiction over all criminal matters in Belize, including the power to institute, conduct, take over, continue, or discontinue criminal proceedings.
